The Negative Effects of Home Schooling Early Teens

Question:
Is there anyone out there with any information on the negative effects of home schooling or that has had any experience in this field or that has done any research on this or that has any first hand knowledge on the negative effects of home schooling a 7th or 8th grader?

Answer:
- In my opinion, (just an opinion, my oldest is an 8yo) hsing a 12-13yo *does* cause irreparable harm, to the psyche, to self esteem, to sense of purpose and motivation (to name a few, and the list goes on and on, with just about every malady one can imagine being possible, tho with diminishing probability of occurance).

But the child is always better for it, and the parents *do* eventually mostly recover.

-My question is "Why?". What is the relevence? All I can say is that some kids do better at home, some in private school, some in public school. The only negative effects that I can think of would come from a parent not doing his/her part and not educating said child and totally isolating said child from rest of the world. People will argue socialazation, that the child won't be able to interact with his/her peers. I went to public school and couldn't relate to my peers that were drug abusers, that believed the world revolved around them because their family had money and looked down on you if you wern't wearing designer clothes, that thought that if you wern't in sports you wern't worth their time, etc. What is the socialization difference there? I just learned to hate these type people (that is real healthy).

How can homeschooling be negative when a child get to learn at his or her own pace, is away from the peer bombardment of sex and drugs (not to mention the atttudes where kids find it ok to harass others in the malls or play practical jokes that they consider to be "harmless" because they don't hurt anyone when in fact they are commiting acts of vandalism). I can go on and on here.
