Home School Diploma, I have some question, please help me???
|
Question:
How would someone get a diploma for completing high school home study?
Answer: - Simple. Design it on your drawing program, and then print it up.
- In Illinois a home school is a private school. We have the same right
to create our own diplomas as any other private school. There is
nothing phony about it.
- I don't know about all states, but in Texas, homeschools are officially
classified as a private school. We plan on creating a diploma on our
home computer and printing it out.
- I finished home school at home and got a diploma, but upon applying to enter
a local college I was denied until I got my GED. They did not accept my
diploma. Now, that was about seven years ago in Georgia. I don't know if
that's the same with all states and colleges or even if things have changed
entirely since then. But, getting the GED was no problem anyway.
- Many colleges and employers aren't particularly interested in the diploma, but
when they ARE interested, a homeschool diploma usually isn't worth much. It's
like a note from mom. Please note that I'm talking about the diploma itself,
not about the entire concept of homeschooling. A college that won't accept a
homeschool diploma may still accept a homeschooler based on some OTHER evidence
of accomplishment and ability.
- What surprises me is that dipomas count for much
at all; A large scale student processing plant might
have a bit more credibility than a one-student
homeschool in terms of statistical uniformity of
product, but honestly, who'd take any diploma
nowdays as evidence that the student can read
and write and do multiplication tables?
Then again you don't actually say that the diploma
is for the purpose of impressing anyone else; maybe
it's for the student his/herself.
For the purpose of sufficiently informing/impressing
other institutions re a hsed student's qualifications I
expect that standardized test results would suit best,
along with a resume of significant life activities.
