Home School Teacher ???

Question:
I am interested in earning a degree for elementary education. Is there also
a "home school" teacher's certificate or degree??? Please let me know. I
have not been able to find out for some time now. I am in NY if that helps.
Answer:
- Some areas offer homeschool certification programs (to meet state law
requirements for homeschooling), but they are generally a short 5 - 10
sessions course. But as far as I know, they would be totally
unnecessary for anyone holding an elementary education degree.
- Therein is the problem -- to assume that because one has a degree in
elementary education he is competent is risky. I teach 'em, I see 'em
graduate, I see 'em get jobs, and I see the fruits of their work. Some are
good, some are bad, and some are ugly (not physically).
